The SC-30 type scanners are small size, long life, beam steering components which combine precision, accuracy, and excellent repeatability with high speed to generate, follow and control optical patterns. A scanner of this type operates at ONE FIXED FREQUENCY from the range of 200Hz to 16KHz. While frequency is fixed, scan amplitude can be modulated. Scan rating can be doubled by scanning in both directions. High speed resonant scanners are used for raster scanning in both projection and data-acquisition applications. The 16KHz scanner is most suitable to meet the line-scan high-resolution display requirements for TV and HDTV. The 8KHz scanner with simultaneous bi-directional scanning will produce the same number of scan lines per frame (page) rate, and the same pixel placement accuracy. The resonant scanner oscillates with a sinusoidal motion, tuned to resonate is opposite phase. Operating at the frequency of 16KHz, 8KHz, or 4KHz eliminates external vibration (mass balance is achieved when the torsional motions set up an equal and opposite torque that cancel out at the torsion rod-housing attachment. Resonant scanners offer low cross-axis wobble. Scan-to-scan repeatability is well below 1 arc second PTP optical. A feedback amplifier, supplied separately, controls the mirror angle and provides a reference signal. Special drivers are available to lock the scanner to a stable source (external clock). The SC-30 is a good candidate for X,Y raster scan systems and systems locked in a master/slave mode. Operation at resonant frequency is sustained by a feedback amplifier type ED driver or the AGC driver, using the scanner as a frequency source. The AGC driver also provides a higher amplitude stability (0.01%) and a position output signal. The PLD-1S driver will phase lock the scanner to an external clock signal. The PLD-2S driver will phase lock two scanners as a "master/slave" scanning system and the PLD-2SXY driver will phase lock two scanners as an "X-Y" scanning system. Special vane configurations, modulating waveforms and shapes are available as a special order (consult EOPC). Drive electronics with different package, regulation and power supply options are available. Special pricing is also available for OEM applications.

Control Driver for resonant optical scanner

The AGC driver, a feedback amplifier, operates a broad range of resonant optical scanners and resonant optical choppers at their natural frequency. The AGC driver has an Automatic Gain Control circuit which automatically regulates the motion amplitude of the resonant device. It improves amplitude stability by approximately 10 times compared to the unregulated drivers and provides precise control for a wide temperature range.

CONTROLS

Both sine wave and TTL level square wave are provided as reference signals.
A trimpot control permits the user to adjust the phase of the reference signals with respect to the position of the mirror or the vane. The adjustable range is 180¡Æ.
A second trimpot provides amplitude adjustment in the range of 20% to 100% of the full amplitude. CONFIGURATIONS
The AGC type driver is available as:
A cased driver (5.3" ¡¿ 5.3" ¡¿ 2") operating from a line voltage of 110V ac or 220V ac (e.g. AGC-110 or AGC-220).
A board level driver requiring an external +/-12V to +/-15V dc power supply (e.g. AGC-PC).
The AGC driver is available in the following configurations:
Model AGC-PC: A feedback amplifier which regulates the motion amplitude of the resonant device.
Model AGC-VC: A feedback amplifier to control the scan amplitude set by an external voltage input.
Model AGC-EXT: A feedback amplifier to control the resonant frequency set by an external clock input.
Model AGC-110: A feedback amplifier operating from a line voltage of 110V ac
Model AGC-220: A feedback amplifier operating from a line voltage of 220V ac
