Multi-Wavelength Laser Sources for Multi-Color Fluorescence Microscopy White Paper

image-91.png

Multi-color fluorescence microscopy is a widely used technique to generate multi-spectral images of cells and other small objects for identifying the spatial distribution of molecules of interest in complex heterogeneous samples. In this article, we explore the history of fluorescence microscopy, with a heavy emphasis on the role of the importance of utilizing multiple fluorophores (tags) in the same measurement.

Tunable Lasers in Photoacoustic Imaging for Biomedical Applications

Q-Tune-600x402.jpg

In this blog post, we take a look at an up and coming laser-based technique for chemically specific subdermal imaging, using the photoacoustic effect. Photoacoustic imaging, also known as optoacoustic imaging, is similar to ultrasound imaging whereas the acoustic shockwave (ultrasonic source) is created by localized heating from a q-switched laser.  Because of wavelength dependence of absorption in tissue, with the aid of a tunable laser photoacoustic imaging can generate 3D images with chemical specificity.
