Is this can full? Seeing into opaque containers using DOEs

In a recent article, researchers from the Weizmann institute of technology have shown a novel method of sensing whether containers are full or empty. The speckle based method utilized a Holo/Or diffractive beam splitter to generate spots on opaque containers , which are then remotely vibrated using speakers. By analyzing the speckle change frequencies , an accurate measurement of the container fill level is achieved. Kudos to our neighbors from the Weizmann institute!

Minimally invasive laser surgery with a fiberbot using a DOE to couple more energy

A group of Chinese researchers at WNLO have recently demonstrated an innovative flexible fiberbot that can transmit CO2 laser radiation through a multi-core structure surrounded by a magnetic elastomer. This magnetically steerable fiberbot can perform laser ablation in-situ using its hexagonal fiber cores arrangement, with the power coupling into the cores done using a hexagonal diffractive beam splitter by Holo/Or (MS-587-A-Y-X).

This allows for delivery of up to X7 times more power than a single MIR fiber, making the fiberbot a practical surgical tool for bone ablation.

Diffractive beam shapers enable next generation of PV cells – IBC and TopCon

While still common and efficient , PERC solar cells are in the process of being replaced by more advanced alternatives such as IBC and TOPCon PV cells.  As the manufacturing processes become more complicated and demanding, laser  technologies must strive to provide  enhanced accuracy and selectivity in tasks such as Laser Contact Opening (LCO), laser selective doping and laser contact firing.

Holo/Or offers precise beam shaping  components capable of enhancing PV laser processes by providing flat top illumination over carefully defined shapes. Our shapers can have an extremely sharp edge (half a diffraction limited spot) and can generate single or multiple shapes with precise separations. Check out or beam shaper page for standard solutions, or contact us with your custom needs!

Broadband diffusers for laser aesthetics– High efficiency and cost Effective

Holo/Or broad band beam shaping  diffusers are based on randomized lens arrays with added diffusion to ensure no order artifacts inside the spot. The BD products have beam shaping characteristics similar to lens arrays, with a higher edge intensity compared to the center, making them uniquely suitable for thermal processes such as skin treatment, where  edge heat diffusion results in uniform heat treatment.
Our wafer scale production processes for BD enables Holo/Or to offer these beam shapers at attractive cost for volumes of tens of units or more- Visit our BD page  for  a quote.

Broadband diffusers for laser aesthetics– High efficiency and cost Effective

Neutral atom quantum computers use optical tweezers to hold atom precise arrays with exactly the correct amount of interactions to enable entailment. To scale up such systems,  Powerful lasers must be split into arrays of ordered spots with precisely controlled separation distances.

This is where our diffractive beam splitters shine. Our multi spot diffractive beam splitters can be tailored to create any holding pattern desired! They  can also be combined with functions such as spiral phase plates or top hat shapers to generate tweezer arrays with special intensity traps for atoms, allowing for customized trap design.  Read more about our multi spot DOEs
