OEwaves to Jointly Develop Miniature Battery-Powered Atomic Clocks

OEwaves, Inc., an innovator of microwave photonic technologies and sensor products, has been selected as one of the four recipients for the new ACES contract award from DARPA.  OEwaves program¡¯s initial phase is valued at $1.7 million, with $2.8 million options for phases two and three.

OEwaves photonics approach based on the proprietary ultra-high quality factor (Q) Whispering Gallery Mode (WGM) micro-optical resonator technology, enables orders of magnitude superior phase noise and higher stability performance with small size, weight, and power (SWAP), as compared with conventional technologies.

¡°We are excited to be part of this very important DARPA Program.  High performance miniature atomic clocks are key to successful operation of systems that must successfully perform  when GPS is denied or is unavailable¡± said Lute Maleki, President and CEO of OEwaves.

DARPA¡¯s ACES program seeks to develop battery-powered miniature atomic clocks for GPS denied environments overcoming the limitations of DARPA¡¯s previously developed chip-scale atomic clock (CSAC) in long-term aging, temperature sensitivity, and power cycling frequency reproducibility.

About OEwaves

OEwaves, Inc., founded in 2000, is headquartered in Pasadena, California, USA. The company develops and offers state-of-the-art technologies and products in support of radar, communications, fiber-optic sensors, and test and measurement systems for military and commercial markets. OEwaves maintains an Intellectual Property Portfolio of 80 cases, 26 of which were licensed via an exclusive agreement with the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), to establish a secure path in which to develop its initial core technologies, the whispering gallery-mode (WGM) resonator and the opto-electronic oscillator (OEO).
