Gooch & Housego the global optical components and systems manufacturer are pleased to announce that they have recently been awarded a substantial contract to supply fibre optic products to Michelson Diagnostics for their VivoSight OCT scanner.

Dr Andrew Robertson, G&H Senior Vice President explained “Gooch and Housego has been working with Michelson Diagnostics since 2007 when they wanted to move from a free space optics design to the fibre based design of the VivoSight system. Having already supplied many fibre couplers and fibre optic modules into the ophthalmic OCT market over the last 10 years, Michelson Diagnostics found us to be an ideal partner in designing their optical fibre-based OCT system.”

Michelson Diagnostics have developed Multi-Beam OCT, a non-invasive technology capable of imaging living tissue microstructure at <10um resolution, in real time, to depths of 1mm or more. G&H manufacture the fibre optic sub-assemblies for the VivoSight OCT scanner, including the hand-held probe and the optical processing unit. The recent contract from Michelson Diagnostics is for sub-assemblies that will be used in the latest design of the VivoSight OCT scanner which is being used in trials at multiple sites worldwide to assess its potential in aiding the non-invasive diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer.
