AMI Announces Release of its New
Model 788 OEM Dual Channel CW & Pulsed Laser Diode Driver

Longwood, FL – February 19, 2025. Analog Modules, Inc. (AMI), a HEICO company (NYSE:HEI.A) (NYSE:HEI), is pleased to announce the release of its new Model 788 OEM Dual Channel CW & Pulsed Laser Diode Driver.
AMI¡¯s Model 788 Dual Channel OEM CW and Pulsed Laser Diode Driver incorporates a boost converter, capacitor bank, and two current regulated buck converters to provide programmable currents to one or two laser emitter diode loads.  The output current capability is up to 17.5 A per channel, or 35 A paralleled at various duty cycles. Load compliance is up to 75 V.  Various protections are built in including 48 V soft start, voltage monitoring, temperature monitoring and hysteretic overtemperature shut down, 48 V and 5 V brown-out protection, start/restart delay, bank dump, current monitoring, and a shorted load until actively released.

The Model 788 can operate in Pulsed, CW, or quasi-CW modes with overdrive protection in all modes. Very high efficiency GAN FETs are used for minimum power consumption and low dissipation. EMI and input flicker filtering are incorporated. The PCB is mounted on an aluminum plate that acts to spread and sink heat. Because of the high efficiency, cooling requirements are minimal, and multiple modules can be stacked.
