Come visit EOT at CLEO 2019 and Laser World of Photonics in Munich, Germany
 

Every year, EOT exhibits at several laser industry trade shows. We will again be attending CLEO:2019 in San Jose, CA, May 7-9, and invite you to Booth 1721 to chat with us about new and existing product lines and specific applications.
This year we will be featuring our newly released TORNOS Broadband Faraday Isolators which are available in three models covering from 520 nm to 885 nm. The TORNOS Broadband offers completely passive, 30 dB isolation across the entire waveband and is ideally suited for multi-wavelength interrogation, broadband laser sources such as Ti:Sapphire, and general purpose R&D and laboratory use. 
We will also be highlighting our New and Improved 4 mm PAVOS Faraday Rotators and Isolators which feature a 25% reduction in thermal lensing, greater than 95% transmission, and a minimum isolation of greater than 33 dB, with a typical isolation of greater than 37 dB.  
We will also be traveling to Munich, Germany for the Laser World of Photonics Trade Fair, June 24-27, where all areas of photonics come together to result in one of the largest trade shows in the industry. Come visit us in Hall B1, Stand 131 to talk about how we can meet your application needs.

FEE GmbH Laser Crystals

 

Update: Growth and Vertical Integration

It is an exciting time in Idar-Oberstein, Germany. At the beginning of 2019, we went live with a fully integrated Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system at FEE GmbH. This will provide a strong foundation for future growth and improved daily operations. 

FEE also continues to invest in increasing the capacity for crystal growth and optical fabrication while integrating with our parent company, EOT. Our vertical integration steps are well underway; we are proud to now provide high quality FEE-grown TGG in our Faraday products.  This material is being coated with high damage threshold, low absorbing Ion Beam Sputtering (IBS) coatings from EOT's coating department.

FEE has also expanded Sales and Customer Service support. In North America, EOT¡¯s sales manager, Todd Heger, is available to support your laser development or crystal production requirements. Lilian Chen will be supporting our Asia sales while Thomas Walter is providing additional sales support in Europe. You can always contact FEE directly for your crystal needs, as well.

Additionally, in 2019, we look forward to incorporating the FEE website,
www.fee-io.de, into the EOT site, eotech.com.  This will provide more content, additional resources, and an improved shopping experience.

3 kW Faraday Isolators

 

New, High Performance Free Space Faraday Isolators 
 

Applications such as Directed Energy and Materials Processing in the >1 kW regime are now exceeding the limits of current Faraday isolator technology.  At >1 kW, existing Faraday isolators can exhibit both high levels of depolarization due to thermal birefringence resulting in low isolation and thermal lensing due to thermal gradients resulting in degradation of M2 values. Such applications often utilize coherent beam combining from fiber lasers or high aspect ratio Nd slab lasers. Back reflections can result in damage to the faces of the fiber in such lasers or in some cases, couple into the fiber resulting in damage to the laser itself.
 
To address this, EOT is offering a Faraday isolator that exhibits both minimal thermal lens focal shift and minimal depolarization at powers up to 3 kW. To minimize the thermal lens focal shift, EOT is utilizing a proprietary Faraday rotator material that has significantly reduced absorption relative to TGG. The result is a Faraday isolator that typically exhibits minimal thermal lens focal shift.

To address the problem of depolarization, EOT utilizes birefringence compensation. Birefringence compensation effectively improves the extinction of a Faraday isolator, thus greatly increasing the level of isolation that a Faraday isolator can provide at higher power levels. EOT¡¯s high extinction thin film polarizers are available and ideally suited for 3 kW isolators.

New Fiber Options

 

>100 W Fiber Beam Delivery Optics and Collimators

Applications such as Materials Processing and Directed Energy often involve directing light from pump diodes to laser oscillators and from lasers to work pieces or targets. Delivery via fiber has proven to be an effective and flexible method to accomplish such tasks. Such applications often require excellent resistance to back reflections, very high levels of beam quality preservation, and minimal insertion loss and return loss.
 
To address these requirements EOT is offering high quality fiber collimators and fiber ferrules. These products can deliver light from both pump diodes utilizing 105/125 or 205/225 MMF fiber or from fiber or solid-state lasers using 12/125 to 30/250 SMF fiber. Depending on whether the application is delivering light from pump diodes or delivering light to work pieces or targets, these products can include armor cable to protect the fiber or may just consist of bare fiber.  Likewise, depending on the requirement for the output of these devices, they could have a multi-element lens/optic system to tightly collimate and control the beam or may have no lens at all.
