Gooch & Housego completed the acquisition of EM4, Inc. on 25th January 2011.
EM4 designs, develops and manufactures state-of-the-art, ruggedised, optoelectronic components and packages for the Aerospace & Defence, Life Sciences, Telecommunications and Industrial markets.

EM4 specialises in “active” fibre optic components and sub-systems. Their products include: -
Direct modulation laser transmitters for analog RF over fibre links
High speed detectors
Fibre laser pumps & components
Fibre amplifier pumps & components
Gooch & Housego’s fibre optics facility in Torquay specialises in ‘passive’ fibre optic technology and both operations share expertise in photonic packaging. When combined, the capabilities of EM4 and G&H Torquay allow Gooch & Housego to provide complete end-to-end fibre optic systems.
